Proudly constructed by Crothers, Baldivis Sports Complex Continues to Kick Goals.
The new $20.1M Baldivis Sports Complex Main Pavilion has been awarded Western Australia’s Project of the Year and a joint winner of National Project of the Year as part of the AFL’s Ken Gannon Community Football Facilities Awards 2023.
Mayor Deb Hamblin said the City was extremely proud the Baldivis Sports Complex had again received recognition for delivering best practice in community facilities.
“The Baldivis Sports Complex is our biggest-ever capital works project and we worked closely with the community during the planning and design to ensure it would meet the needs of the rapidly expanding community,” Mayor Hamblin said.
“The district-level sporting facility caters for a wide range of indoor and outdoor sports and activities, as well as AFL, and it’s been fantastic to see it has been so popular.
The Baldivis Sports Complex opened in March 2023 and is home to the Baldivis Brumbies Football Club and the White Knights Baldivis Cricket Club.
The facility features a main pavilion, change rooms (including gender-equitable options), a large maintenance shed, eight hectares of playing space made up of two senior ovals and one junior oval, above-spec floodlighting, and three separate car parks. It is also includes the Baldivis Indoor Sports Complex, which is open to all community members.
The award was presented to the City of Rockingham by the WA Football Commission (WAFC) and the AFL at the Baldivis Sports Complex on Thursday 23 May. It follows on from the Complex winning the WAFC’s 2023 Football Facility of the Year Award in September 2023.
